Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is a response to Section 54(1) Part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
The Cedar Court Hotel Group is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking within its own operations. We are committed to eliminating modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and similar human rights abuses.
The Cedar Court Hotel Group works closely with external agencies such as the Police and other Government Agencies to encourage staff education and training and regularly monitors its policies to ensure effectiveness.
In particular:
- Full Right to Work and due diligence checks are taken for all colleagues and a copy of all documentation is held on personnel files which may be spot checked via external agencies.
- Our Talent, Culture and Wellbeing Team and/or staff involved in the recruitment of colleagues undertake relevant training courses that include guidance around Right to Work checks and false documentation.
- Colleagues are made aware of certain “signs” to be aware of in relation to hotel guests in conjunction with external safeguarding and child exploitation agencies in particular children and vulnerable adults due to the anonymity and privacy that hotels offer.
- “Your Voice” commitment within the Cedar Court Hotel Group encourages colleagues to report any concerns or suspicions in a confidential manner that they might have to the Talent, Culture and Wellbeing Team or Senior Leadership Team.
- Where external suppliers are used, all steps are taken, as far as practicably possible, to ensure that they do not condone the use of slavery in any form and that they hold their own suppliers to account.
Reports surrounding these issues are taken extremely seriously and we are committed to ensuring that all investigations shall be prompt and effective. If our investigations reveal any issues, we are committed to taking appropriate action, including but not limited to passing details to appropriate law enforcement bodies.
