This month's photo of the month by our resident photographer Paul Thompson is of City Park in Bradford, a true regeneration success story.

Paul's picture captures the colour, vibrance and simplicity of the Park, which has revived the centre of Bradford and created a great space for people to sit, meet, relax and think.

Here's what Paul had to say about shooting this image:

"Like many people I was initially skeptical about the City Park, but I have to admit it's one of my favourite parts of Bradford. It adds a focal point and events venue to the city centre.

"If I'm photographing at night I usually prefer to work about 30-40 minutes after sunset, when the sky turns a lovely deep blue colour. This shot was taken slightly later. The only light is from the fountains and street lighting, which creates the monochromatic orangey, colour. A long exposure blurs the water nicely, and the solitary man on the left of the shot adds balance."

Paul Thompson is a photographer based in Bradford West Yorkshire.  He runs an online image library called West Yorkshire Images, which is at www.westyorkshireimages.co.uk
