Photo of the month for May is a wonderful shot of a steam train just outside Keighley Station.
This month's picture was taken just outside Keighley Station as a steam train negotiates the tricky uphill bend on the Keighley and Worth Valley line, famously the location for the Railway Children.
The boy chasing the train was pure luck. Unlike the great American railway photographer O Winston Link, I didn't use models and multiple light sources. Maybe one day.
Telegraph poles are always a problem if you want to photograph trains. I had a viewpoint which minimised them, but the boy makes a much stronger picture even with the added distraction.
West Yorkshire has an interesting railway history, there are many abandoned lines in the area. Lost railways of West Yorkshire is an excellent site.
