Photo of the month for April is a fantastic photo of Piece Hall, Halifax.
Photography magazines are full of the latest must have cameras, and indispensable software, but sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time.
I was in Halifax late one afternoon, just after a sudden downpour had passed. On an impulse I walked into Piece Hall, just as the sun broke through.
The lovely clean light brings out the warmth of the sandstone, which contrasts with the blue reflected light elsewhere.
The reflection adds interest, and the cotton wool clouds break up the blue sky.
It’s always worth paying repeated visits to photogenic areas close by, sometimes you get lucky. I forget who said it, but it’s better to be lucky than good.
