A Junior Sous Chef, from the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield, has won the Hellmann’s Vinaigrettes Design a Dish competition, after the public voted his creative Lemon Meringue Pie with Fresh Raspberries their favorite dish.
Almost a third of voters chose James Thompson’s innovative dessert, proving that Hellmann’s Vinaigrettes can stretch much wider than summer salads. James will now experience the trip of a lifetime to New York and feature in Hellmann’s new interactive magazine, ‘Best Dressed’.
James, 25, says: “I’m absolutely ecstatic to have won the Hellmann’s Vinaigrettes Design a Dish competition. It’s the first time I’ve entered a competition like this, so I felt inspired to create something different. I decided to use Hellmann’s Lemon Vinaigrette with blackberry juice to create a delicious dessert. The product is simply fantastic – it’s so versatile and adds real ‘wow’ factor to dishes.
“We added the winning Lemon Meringue Pie with Fresh Raspberries to the Cedar Court Huddersfield Hotel menu last week and it’s already one of our bestsellers.
“I’m so glad that I’ve had an opportunity to show people what I can do. The fact that my dish has been voted the best, and I’ve won the chance to go to New York, is amazing; I can’t believe it.”
