Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa becomes York’s first 5 star hotelCedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa has become York’s first 5 star hotel and the only AA 5 star rated hotel in Yorkshire.In addition, The Grill Room at The Grand restaurant has been awarded two prestigious AA Rosettes for the outstanding quality of its culinary offering.There are just 90 other AA 5 star hotels in the UK and, excluding The Grand, only 23 outside London.In awarding the 5 stars, a spokesperson for the AA commented:“The Grand has achieved one of the highest accolades awarded by the AA. 5 black stars are a symbol of excellence achieved through dedication, high levels of investment and a passion to be the best. We are delighted that York has its first 5 star hotel.”The £25m Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa opened in May 2010 following the extensive refurbishment of the former North Eastern Railway headquarters – one of York’s most iconic Edwardian buildings.

Britain’s Curry Capital 2011 - Bradford Bid

 The competition has various stages –  1.  The first stage is for the public to vote for their favourite Bradford restaurants to make up the Curry Capital team. The team is announced on the 1st September.  2.  At the same time the public also vote for Bradford. This runs at the same time as the voting for the restaurants.  3. The Council must submit a bid document explaining why Bradford should win.  4. The Curry Capital team made up of the four most voted restaurants must also show evidence of charitable work and/ or host a charity dinner. The restaurants may also be mystery shopped by the Curry Capital competition organisers.  The competition finishes on the 26th September when the council submits the bid document
